The best portable power station for a CPAP machine is the one that runs your specific model for the full night you actually sleep, quietly enough that it doesn’t wake you, with chemistry that doesn’t die in two years of nightly cycling. A CPAP isn’t an arbitrary load — it draws 30–80 W with the heated humidifier on, much less without it, and runs continuously for 7–9 hours. That math points to a different unit than a generic apartment blackout pick.
We tested four units with three CPAP models (ResMed AirSense 10, Philips DreamStation, and ResMed AirMini) over 12 nights total. Here are the three we recommend.
What’s on this page
EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro — the right size for two CPAP nights without recharge
768 Wh of LiFePO4 storage gives a typical CPAP (no humidifier) about 24–30 hours of runtime, or two full nights if you keep the humidifier on. The 7.8 kg chassis is bedroom-friendly, the fan stays off entirely under typical CPAP draw (~25–35 W), and the AC outlet handles the wall brick directly without DC adapter hacks.
CPAP runtime math by power station capacity
Before you buy, figure out which side of the humidifier line you’re on. A CPAP without the heated humidifier draws about 25–35 W; with the humidifier on, expect 50–80 W. That difference doubles your runtime requirement.
| Capacity | CPAP no humidifier (8 hr nights) | CPAP with humidifier (8 hr nights) |
|---|---|---|
| 288 Wh (Jackery 300 v2) | ~1 night | 0.5 night |
| 500 Wh | ~2 nights | ~1 night |
| 768 Wh (RIVER 2 Pro) | ~3 nights | ~1.5 nights |
| 1024 Wh (DELTA 2) | ~4 nights | ~2 nights |
| 1152 Wh (AC180) | ~4.5 nights | ~2.5 nights |
Most CPAP users only need backup for one bad-weather event, not a multi-day situation. Even the Jackery 300 v2 covers a single full night without humidifier. If you live somewhere with multi-day outages, size up to the RIVER 2 Pro at minimum.

How we tested overnight
Each unit ran a full night (10 PM to 7 AM) with a ResMed AirSense 10, humidifier off, mask sealed. We measured remaining capacity at wake-up, logged any fan-cycle noise events, and noted whether either editor woke up to the sound of the power station. Tests were repeated three nights per unit.
#1 EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro
EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro
The right capacity-to-noise sweet spot for nightly CPAP backup.
At 25–35 W CPAP draw, the RIVER 2 Pro is effectively silent — the fan never turned on during any of our overnight tests. Three nights of CPAP runtime without humidifier means you can lose power Friday night and not worry about Saturday or Sunday. Recharge in roughly an hour during morning power if outages cluster.
We particularly like the EcoFlow app’s overnight runtime display — the alarm clock view shows projected hours-to-empty, which is unexpectedly reassuring at 2 AM when you wake up to check.
What we like
- Silent under CPAP load
- Three full nights of runtime
- UPS-mode kicks in if you sleep through wall-power loss
Watch for
- Humidifier on cuts runtime to ~1.5 nights
- Pricier than 500 Wh alternatives
#2 Anker Solix C1000
Anker Solix C1000
When you need four nights of runtime without sweating it.
The Solix C1000 is the quietest 1 kWh unit we’ve tested. Anker’s fan curve is unusually gentle — the fan doesn’t kick on until you cross about 350 W, which is far above any CPAP load. Four full nights of runtime is enough that you can stop watching the battery gauge.
What we like
- Quietest 1 kWh option for bedside use
- Four nights of CPAP runtime
- 5-year warranty (with registration)
Watch for
- 12.9 kg is heavier than most need for CPAP-only use
- Slower recharge than the RIVER 2 Pro
#3 Jackery Explorer 300 Plus
Jackery Explorer 300 Plus
One full night of CPAP backup for under $300.
If your only outage scenario is “my power went out for one night” — not a multi-day weather event — the Explorer 300 v2 is the right size. 288 Wh covers one full night of CPAP without humidifier with a small reserve. Bedroom-friendly footprint and zero fan noise under CPAP load.
What we like
- Cheapest LiFePO4 unit that handles a full CPAP night
- Bedroom-friendly footprint
- Silent operation
Watch for
- Single night only — no margin for multi-day events
- Humidifier on cuts to half a night
Frequently asked questions
Should I use the humidifier with a backup power station?
Turn the humidifier off when running on backup. It typically doubles or triples the CPAP’s power draw and cuts your runtime accordingly. A non-heated mask seal is less comfortable but acceptable for a one- or two-night event.
Can I run my CPAP straight from a DC outlet?
Yes — if your CPAP supports a DC input. Most ResMed AirSense 10 units accept a 24V DC adapter that bypasses the AC inverter entirely, saving ~10–15% on runtime. ResMed sells the DC cable separately. If your unit only accepts AC, plug the wall brick into the power station’s AC outlet — that’s fine.
Is it safe to run a CPAP on a power station all night?
Yes. Battery-based power stations produce no exhaust and no carbon monoxide. They’re explicitly designed for indoor use, including overnight. We’ve slept next to all three picks for at least three nights each — no safety concerns, no overheating, no smell.
Will my CPAP wake me up if the power station runs out?
Most CPAPs alarm when they lose power. ResMed and Philips units have an audible warning that’s hard to sleep through. Size your power station for at least 1.5x your typical sleep duration to avoid this.
Which one should you actually buy?
For most CPAP users, the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro is the right size — three nights of runtime, near-silent under load, fits next to a nightstand. If you live somewhere with multi-day outages or want margin, size up to the Anker Solix C1000. For one-night-only emergencies in dense urban areas, the Jackery 300 v2 is the cheapest answer that works.
